Since our inception in 1997, the goal of the Crime and Trauma Assistance Program (CTAP) has been to promote awareness of the personal and societal impact of crime and trauma, as well as to facilitate recovery from the emotional, psychological and physical symptoms that result from being victimized. Our Master’s level clinicians are trained in trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which are the most often cited, evidence-based treatment modalities for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress. Our individual and group counseling programs provide trauma education, coping strategies, stabilization and therapy techniques that offer the victim the best possible chance of returning to a normal level of functioning.
CTAP is the only program in central Ohio that offers free, trauma-focused, best practice therapy to victims of all ages, races, genders, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds to aid in reducing or eliminating the short and long term consequences that can result from being a victim of crime. In addition to the direct counseling services, CTAP performs outreach, personal advocacy, and education on trauma and its effects to our community.
