Heart Attack
A heart attack (also called an acute myocardial infarction) occurs when the arteries leading to the heart become blocked and the blood supply is slowed or stopped. Every year, about one million people suffer a heart attack. Scientific evidence indicates that the following six measures represent best practices in the treatment of heart attacks. Mount Carmel data is for Dec 2009 – May 2010 unless otherwise noted. Ohio and national data is from the Hospital Compare website and is for Jan 2009 – Dec 2009 unless otherwise noted. Instances with fewer than 25 cases are too small to reliably predict hospital performance. Select a key indicator below to see our results.
