| Based on quality data from its most recent rating period, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) has given both Mount Carmel East and Mount Carmel West its 3 Star rating – the highest possible for quality performance in cardiac surgery.
The STS uses a comprehensive composite rating system to determine the quality of cardiac surgery among participating U.S. hospitals. Only 12-15 percent receive the 3 Star rating. Mount Carmel East has received it every year since 2006, while Mount Carmel West has done the same since 2007*.
