Columbus – The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® program has recognized Mount Carmel St. Ann’s with the Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award. This award recognizes Mount Carmel St. Ann’s commitment to implementing high standards of care for patients who are having the most severe form of a heart attack.

“We’ve been able to make a difference in the care of our patients because we can take care of them immediately,” said Deborah Thompson, system director of cardiology services at Mount Carmel.

Hospitals involved in Mission: Lifeline implement a program that makes sure these patients get the care they need, as quickly as possible. They must adhere to a strict set of guidelines and measures for a designated period of time to be eligible for the achievement awards.

“This is an important step in improving care for heart attack patients,” said Doug Van Fossen, MD, medical director for chest pain services at Mount Carmel.

Mount Carmel St. Ann’s is also making other strides to continue to deliver high-quality patient care and meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves. St. Ann’s is nearing the completion of Project, a $110 million investment in new facilities and equipment that will ensure the hospital can continue to meet the community’s growing healthcare needs. Project GRACE is funding a new main entrance, an Integrated Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, a new patient tower, a new dining facility and has completed a new 3-level Parking Garage and road enhancements.
