Grove City’s Balloons & Tunes, Presented by Mount Carmel, Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Focus your eyes on the skies as the Grove City Balloons & Tunes Hot Air Balloon Festival, presented by Mount Carmel Health System, welcomes 30 hot air balloonists to celebrate 10 years of entertainment and enjoyment for spectators. Get up close and personal as the Central Ohio Balloon Club pilots light up the evening skies with their hot air balloons at the nightly balloon glows.
Event hours are from 5-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24. Balloon ascensions are planned for Friday and Saturday evenings between 6 and 7:30 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings between 6:45 and 7:45 a.m. Balloon glows on Friday and Saturday evenings are at dusk. Tethered rides (limit of 400, on-site each evening) and balloon flights (in advance) are available for purchase. All launches, rides and glows are weather dependent. Balloons are sensitive to weather conditions such as wind, visibility, winds aloft and storms.
Enjoy free, fun entertainment featuring something for every member of the family. Live musical entertainment and children’s activities, including bounce houses, event-sponsored crafts, a mobile video game room and more, are offered when the balloons are not on the field. MojoFlo performs Friday evening and Jayne Bond and the Pink Martini’s take to the stage Saturday.
Runners and walkers “take flight” as the balloons fill the sky at the third annual Mount Carmel Up & Away 5k, benefitting the Mid-Ohio Foodbank; visit www.GroveCityOhio.gov for registration information.
There is no fee for admission or activities, there is a $5 parking fee per vehicle. Carry-in coolers, bottles and food are not permitted on the festival grounds. The festival provides an variety of unique food and merchandise at the concessionaire stands. Balloons & Tunes is a smoke-free event.
Only service dogs are allowed on the festival grounds. The noise of the balloons may be distressing or frightening to some animals.
