PGY1 Pharmacy Resident

Degrees

BS, Biochemistry, PharmD

Colleges

University of Dayton, The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy

Experience

Prior to starting pharmacy school, I worked as a pharmacy technician for a private Hematology/Oncology practice in Dayton, OH. While in pharmacy school, I worked as a pharmacy intern for The James Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Wexner Medical Center. I completed APPE rotations at The Wexner Medical Center, Memorial Hospital of Union County, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Areas of interest

I am interested in many areas of pharmacy, especially critical care, emergency medicine, and infectious disease. I am also interested in precepting students and being involved in clinical research. I am very eager for all that this residency has to offer.

Future goals

After completing a PGY-1 residency, I would like to pursue a career as a clinical pharmacist in critical care or emergency medicine. I am also considering completing a PGY-2 residency and becoming a board certified specialist.

About the resident

I am originally from Bethel Township, a small town north of Dayton, OH. I enjoy reading, arts and crafts, playing with my cat and dog, cooking and baking. I also love spending time with my family, friends and fiancé. However, lately my free time has been spent doing a little wedding planning!

Interesting fact

While in high school, I worked for a minor league baseball team as…. A mascot!

Degrees

PharmD

Colleges

Ohio Northern University

Experience

Pharmacy internships at Defiance Regional Hospital and St. Rita’s Medical Center

Areas of interest

While I am interested in many areas of pharmacy, I find areas such as infectious disease, palliative care, ambulatory care, and drug information especially interesting. I am also very interested in teaching in some capacity after finishing residency.

Future goals

After completing my PGY-1 residency, I would like to work in a clinical capacity in a health system pharmacy. My goal is to be involved with students either via precepting or teaching in a more formal setting. I also would like to aid in expanding the understanding of who pharmacists are and what they do.

About the resident

I am originally from rural Defiance county in northwest Ohio and enjoy spending time with my family. During my time at Ohio Northern, I met and married my wonderful husband, Jimmie. We love to spend time outdoors, be involved in our church, and watch super hero movies.

Interesting fact

I grew up on a pig farm and showed pigs at the county fair for 13 years!
