G. Patrick Ecklar, MD
Mount Carmel Foundation Physician Philanthropy Committee proudly awarded the 2011 Dr. Tom F. Lewis Spirit of Philanthropy Award to Dr. G. Patrick Ecklar on February 12 at the Champagne and Diamonds gala.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Ecklar has been with Mount Carmel for more than 30 years. It was Mount Carmel’s mission and focus on patient-centered care that first attracted him to Mount Carmel to complete his internship and residency. He’s been an important part of Mount Carmel ever since.
He has helped thousands of patients through what he calls “their journeys.” “It is such an amazing experience,” he says. “It’s a privilege for people to trust in you, and I’m honored that my patients trust in me to help them.” Passionate about education, Dr. Ecklar has taught and trained more than 200 residents and medical students at Mount Carmel as Program Director of Internal Medicine and now as a Senior Faculty member.
Dr. Ecklar is a generous supporter of the Columbus Medical Association, Ohio University, The Ohio State University, New Directions Career Center, WOSU, the Christina Isabelle Dance Company, COSI, the Mount Carmel College of Nursing and the Mount Carmel Foundation.
Also honored at Champagne & Diamonds were Dr. Sherri Morgan Family Practice, and Dr. Anantha Padmanabhan, Colon and Rectal Surgery.
The Dr. Tom F. Lewis Spirit of Philanthropy Award recognizes outstanding Mount Carmel physicians who not only demonstrate exemplary leadership and patient care, but also generously give of their time, talent and financial resources to support our patients and our community.
