Emergency Response

It's important to act quickly in the event of a cardiac emergency. If you think you're experiencing signs and symptoms of a heart attack, call 9-1-1 immediately. The 9-1-1 operator may recommend that you take an aspirin. Research has shown that taking an aspirin early in the treatment of a heart attack can improve your chances of survival. Keep in mind that aspirin alone won't treat your heart attack, so make sure that you call 9-1-1 first.

We have worked extensively with local EMS to ensure that our treatment protocols begin on your way to our hospitals. This coordination means faster treatment and could save your life.

Once you arrive at Mount Carmel, you'll be seen quickly and treated accurately. In fact, our rapid triage process and special response teams allow us to consistently perform better than both the national and state benchmark for door to balloon time of 90 minutes or less for heart attack patients. That reduced time to treatment is among the reasons Mount Carmel East, West and St. Ann’s are all recognized as Accredited Chest Pain Centers with PCI by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Working together with cardiologists, emergency physicians and cath lab staff, we'll identify your heart problem, limit its effects and promptly route you through the necessary levels of care. And if you require a higher level of care, we offer a wide range of heart services everything from angioplasty and stenting to complex surgical procedures.
