Healthy Living Center meeting

Welcome to the Healthy Living Center

Mount Carmel's von Zychlin Healthy Living Center is a community health and wellness center that provides FREE holistic health and wellness programs for everyone, empowering and equipping each individual to embrace long-term health behavior changes in a safe, inclusive space.

Programming at the Healthy Living Center includes cooking and nutrition, community meetings, diabetes prevention, exercise, healthy babies and families, wellness and stress management. All programs are made possible thanks to the contributions of the Mount Carmel Foundation and a number of generous community partners.

Meet Our Team

Josh began his work with the Healthy Living Center in July 2015 serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA while finishing his graduate degree in Social Work at Ohio State. Josh's experiences in high school and college created a passion for grass roots community work particularly centered around food and health. Having grown up on the west side of Columbus, Josh has a special affinity for the Franklinton and Hilltop communities. When he's not coordinating programs or at community meetings, he enjoys going to the gym, trying new recipes, and thrifting for vintage antiques with his wife.

Stacey started with Mount Carmel in 2015 and joined the Healthy Living Center team in June 2018. Stacey received her Master of Public Health degree from The Ohio State University and her BA in business administration from Otterbein University. Prior to her time with Mount Carmel, Stacey spent 18 years with the Ohio Hospital Association, during which time she oversaw the Foundation for Healthy Communities and the association's public health promotion programs. Stacey lives in Alexandria with her husband, two kids, two cats and a dog.

Marcia began her journey with Mount Carmel in 2014, joining Church Partnerships in 2016. Marcia graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her prior work in home health and public health fueled her passion for health promotion and education. In 2019, she earned her certification as a health and wellness coach through Wellcoaches. Outside of work, Marcia enjoys reading and traveling.

Church Partnerships

The biggest part of our mission at Mount Carmel is to improve the health of the communities we serve. One of the many ways we do that is by building relationships with local community-based organizations including those representing all faith traditions through a program called Mount Carmel Church Partnerships.

Through Church Partnerships we assist and empower faith communities to address the unique health needs of their congregations. We do this through individual consultation and guidance to a variety of resources available; including evidence-based health education resources, expertise on establishing or enhancing health ministry programs, providing linkage to free health and wellness programming offered through Mount Carmel Healthy Living Center and other community-based organizations, and in some cases working together with partner organizations to create customized programming based on unique needs.
