Breast Cancer Exercise and Nutrition Program

Mount Carmel offers exercise and nutrition programs designed specifically to help women with breast cancer incorporate a daily fitness routine and healthy eating habits into their lives.

The standard program combines aerobic exercise, resistance training and balance exercises for a total-body workout. Before you begin the program, an individualized exercise plan will be created according to your fitness level and type of surgery and treatment. You’ll work out in a supportive, medically supervised environment. You’ll also receive guidelines for working out at home, nutrition counseling from a licensed dietitian, education and support. Classes include discussions led by our medical experts on topics like sexuality, stress management and treatment. Each class session meets three times a week for six weeks.

We also offer a new ‘Jump-Start’ program that meets just twice a week for 2 weeks. You’ll learn how to safely begin an exercise program on your own and receive information about nutrition and weight control. Jump-Start is educational only and does not involve on-site exercise.

Breast Cancer Exercises and Nutrition is offered free through a generous grant from the Columbus Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and generous donations to the Mount Carmel Foundation.

A physician referral is required for enrollment. Call 614-234-4006 for more information and to register.
