Meera Gaglani Bhatt is one of our third-year co-chief residents. A Columbus native, Meera has returned to pursue her Internal Medicine Residency after completing her undergraduate degree at CWRU and her medical degree at American University of the Caribbean.
Meera grew up around medicine; both of her parents are physicians and inspired her to pursue medicine as a career herself. She enjoys the personal interactions with patients and their families and ultimately plans to pursue a Geriatrics fellowship.
In her third year of residency here at Mount Carmel, Dr. Bhatt has this advice to offer: “be hardworking team players, and enjoy every day.” She feels that Mount Carmel offers access to a diverse patient population, a wide range of pathology and solid teaching. Additionally, she enjoys the close-knit feel of the program.
Outside of work, Meera enjoys spending time with her husband, taking her new puppy for walks, cooking, and watching movies.

- Why I chose Mount Carmel: Friendly environment to work in
“It is a privilege to practice medicine; you get to make a difference on a daily basis.”
Dr. Karthik Mulkanoor is one of our co-chief residents this year, and he sums up why he went into medicine with the words above.
Mentored and supported by his parents and his uncle Dr. Vidyasagar Kora, Dr. Mulkanoor comes to Mount Carmel after completing medical school at Windsor University School of Medicine.
He enjoys Internal Medicine as a specialty because of the variety of pathology he gets to treat. He has found Mount Carmel’s academic environment to be conducive to learning and he enjoys discussing challenging cases with his colleagues and attending physicians.
His advice to current residents and students echoes advice he received: stay hungry. Don’t ever be complacent. Push yourself; there is always something you can learn from every patient.
Outside of work, Karthik enjoys sports. When he’s not on the basketball court at Mount Carmel, you might find him playing sand volleyball or hanging at the pool with friends.
