Operating on a kidney is no small thing. Special instruments used in the minimally invasive procedures allow surgeons to use three or four keyhole-size incisions.

In a minimally invasive nephrectomy, a diseased kidney is removed through several small incisions in the abdomen.

In a nephroureterctomy both the kidney and ureter are removed.
