Medical Staff Credentialing

The Credentialing Verification Office (CVO) manages the credentialing process for physicians applying to any of our three Mount Carmel medical staffs (Mount Carmel Health, Mount Carmel St. Ann’s and Mount Carmel New Albany Surgical Hospital) or seeking privileges for their clinical practice in our hospitals.

Credentialing for physicians and allied health professionals applying to any of our medical/allied health staffs or managed care organization (Health Partners) is handled by the Medical Staff Credentialing Verification Office). The credentialing process involves an initial evaluation of all licensed independent practitioners, including primary source verification.

We also initiate a reappointment credentialing process every two years to review each provider’s continued clinical competency data and provide the documentation necessary to reappoint providers according to state and federal regulatory standards.

Once we have received your complete application packet, the verification process takes an average of 45 days, after which your application will be forwarded to the appropriate entity/entities for approval. Representatives from the CVO will also keep you updated on the progress of your application.
