Dr. David L. Louis
The Medical Staff Service Excellence award is presented each year to an outstanding physician for his or her unselfish dedication to the mission of Mount Carmel St Ann's. Nominated physicians must be Active, Retired/Emeritus or Honorary members of the Mount Carmel St. Ann's Medical Staff and have made significant contributions to Medical Staff activities and to the hospital.
Dr. David L. Louis graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Medicine 1964. He completed his Orthopedic Residency at Mount Carmel Hospital and Columbus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Louis established his practice in Columbus and joined the medical staff of Mount Carmel Health in March, 1971.
Dr. Louis was instrumental in the teaching and mentoring of many current practicing orthopedic surgeons in the Columbus area. Dr. Louis was instrumental in the approval of St. Ann’s Hospital being built in Westerville.
Dr. Louis served as Mount Carmel Health, Orthopedic Department Vice Chairman from 1978 – 1984 and Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, Orthopedic Department Chairman 1985 – 1999.
