Mount Carmel St. Ann’s has joined Mount Carmel East, Mount Carmel West and a select group of U.S. hospitals as a Certified Primary Stroke Center.
The designation, which is conferred by the independent, not-for-profit Joint Commission in conjunction with the American Stroke Association, confirms Mount Carmel St. Ann’s ability to provide the care necessary to meet the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients and achieve long-term success in improving outcomes. To earn the designation, the hospital and staff had to meet or exceed a wide set of stringent criteria for diagnosing and treating stroke patients during a Joint Commission review. The certification makes Mount Carmel St. Ann’s one of only 925 hospitals in the country to achieve stroke certification.
