Aquatic Exercise
Exercising in the water can help reduce the symptoms of lymphedema, improve your emotional well-being and help with arm strength and mobility after breast surgery. The water applies gentle pressure that can improve circulation throughout your body by moving lymph fluids to prevent swelling in your hand, arm, armpit, trunk or breast area. That’s why Mount Carmel offers this unique program designed specifically for women who are in treatment or recovery from breast cancer.

In addition to water exercise, you’ll learn ways to recognize lymphedema symptoms and what you can do for symptom relief. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss concerns or problems with our nurse instructor and receive ongoing arm assessments throughout the program.

A grant from the Columbus Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure enables Mount Carmel to offer a five week session at no charge to first-time participants. Call 614-234-8124 for more information and to register.
