Breast Cancer Exercise Program
Mount Carmel offers an exercise program designed specifically to help women with breast cancer incorporate a daily fitness routine into their lives. The 6-week, 18-session program is offered free through a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and combines low-impact exercises and stretching movements for a total-body workout. Among the intended benefits of the program are decreased anxiety and depression, reduced nausea during chemotherapy, improved emotional well-being, increased range of arm motion after surgery and weight control. The program also includes after-class education sessions about a variety of topics, such as nutrition, stress management, sexuality and lymphedema prevention. A physician referral is required for enrollment. Call 614-234-4006 for more information.
