Breast Cancer Exercise Program
Mount Carmel offers exercise programs designed specifically to help women with breast cancer incorporate a daily fitness routine into their lives.

The standard program is 6-weeks and includes 18 sessions. It combines low-impact exercises and stretching movements for a total body workout. Among the intended benefits of the program are decreased anxiety and depression, reduced nausea during chemotherapy, improved emotional well-being, increased range of motion after surgery and weight control. Also included are after-class educational sessions about a variety of topics, such as nutrition, stress management, sexuality and lymphedema prevention.

A 2-week, 4 session “Jump Start” program is also available. The goal of the “Jump Start” program is to help women learn how to safely begin to incorporate exercise and healthy eating habits into their daily lives. It is designed for women who want to decrease their risk of recurrence through exercise and nutrition, but cannot attend the 6-week standard program.

Both are offered free through the Mount Carmel Foundation.

A physician referral is required for enrollment. Call 614-234-4006 for more information.
