For
those who are trying to prevent, treat or recover from a heart or vascular condition, Mount Carmel has an amazing array of cardiovascular
services to ensure that our patients have every opportunity to maintain and
improve heart and vascular health.
With
remarkable expertise, facilities and technologies, we offer state-of-the-art
diagnostic, interventional and surgical capabilities; an experienced team of
board-certified cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional
radiologists and vascular surgeons; and a number of disease management and
rehabilitation programs to help patients stay heart healthy.
- Mount Carmel treats over 9,000
patients each year for chest pain and performs more than 2,400 percutaneous
interventions annually.
- We
rank in the top 10 percent nationally in the critical “door-to-balloon”
statistic, which rates how quickly patients who need it receive an
interventional procedure.
- By
demonstrating excellence in eight key areas of care for chest pain and heart
attacks, Mount Carmel East, West and St.
Ann’s are all recognized as Accredited Chest Pain
Centers by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
- The
system has a 94 percent success rate when it comes to cardiac angioplasties.
That means that six percent or fewer of cardiac patients have heart attacks,
require emergent open-heart surgery or die as a result of cardiac interventions
at Mount Carmel.
- Mount Carmel's dedicated
heart-care facilities include state-of-the art ICUs, non-invasive diagnostic
facilities, cath labs and peripheral labs. The Mount Carmel East
Heart Center
features stent-capable cath labs, an electrophysiology lab, a cardiovascular
neuro services center, an eight-bed post-surgery ICU, an 18-bed coronary care
unit and a 30-bed step-down unit.
- In
addition to established surgical techniques, our physicians perform a number of
progressive techniques like endoscopic vein harvesting, concominant atrial
fibrillation ablation and beating heart surgery. In fact, our beating heart
program has one of the highest volumes in the state of Ohio.
- Mount
Carmel East and West both have been named Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®
Cardiovascular Winners for 2008 and 2009. The award recognizes hospitals “that are
setting the nation’s benchmarks for cardiovascular care” by achieving some of
the highest scores for heart attack, heart failure, angioplasty and bypass
outcomes.
