Inpatient Rehabilitation Center
The Mount Carmel Inpatient Rehabilitation Center has been helping patients facing recovery and rehabilitation from illness and injury since 1987. We are CARF-accredited in two rehabilitation programs: a comprehensive integrated rehabilitation program and a stroke specialty program. The Center has the people, programs and facilities to make recoveries as successful as possible for our patients.

Experienced Staff

The center is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of top medical professionals with the therapeutic expertise and specialized experience to ensure the patient's rehabilitation stay is designed and implemented for maximum benefit. Our team includes a board-certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; physical, occupational, and recreational therapists; rehabilitation nurses; a neuropsychologist; social workers; and speech-language pathologists. Together they use the center's state-of-the-art equipment and accredited programs to provide patients with exceptional resources and an incomparable level of care.

Intensive Treatment

Our team works closely with patients to create personal treatment plans that will help them function as independently as possible. We use therapies and skills from a number of disciplines in both group and individual sessions to give patients the strengths and skills they need to reenter their lives. In addition to 24-hour-a-day medical support, our program provides a full range of therapies and services, including:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Recreational Therapy
  • Rehabilitation Nursing
  • Neuropsychology
  • Social Work Services
  • Nutrition Services
  • Discharge Planning Assistance
  • Support Groups
  • Pastoral Care
  • Audiology
  • Orthotics/Prosthetics
  • Respiratory Care
  • Pharmacy Services
  • Lab Services
  • Radiology
  • Driver Evaluation/Training Referrals

In addition to the intensive therapy regimen that all patients receive, our stroke specialty program patients benefit from a three-day stroke education series; individual training sessions with a full-time Clinical Nurse Educator; a personal aftercare portfolio that includes health records, stroke education, personalized care instructions and a community resource guide; and access to our stroke support group.

Personal & Family Involvement

Inpatient rehabilitation is a participatory program at Mount Carmel. Patients are personally involved in goal setting and program development, and families are encouraged to take part in orientation, rehabilitation education, therapy sessions and training, and enjoy unrestricted visitation.

Educational Outings

Patients take part in off-site outings like fishing, golfing, shopping and dining out that incorporate experiences and training which facilitate life after recovery.

A Healing Environment

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center is a 24-bed facility aimed entirely at improving patients' functional abilities and quality of life. In addition to an integrated therapy area, the unit incorporates many of the comforts of home, including an outdoor patio and common areas for meals, activities and socialization.

A Record Of Success

The Mount Carmel Inpatient Rehabilitation Center's Functional Independence Measure — a measure of the patient's progress through a medical rehabilitation program — exceeds regional and national standards. Additionally, 77 percent of our patients return home immediately after completing the program. Our dedication to provide the highest standard of care also has earned us CARF-accreditation for our Stroke Specialty Program and Comprehensive Integrated Rehabilitation Program.
