A colectomy is the removal of a diseased colon or harmful growths in the colon. The minimally invasive approach uses several half-inch-long incisions in the abdomen.

Transanal Endoscopic Surgery

Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) is a new technique for removing rectal tumors through the anal opening rather than through more complicated abdominal surgery. Mount Carmel is one of only a few centers in the United States to offer this very specialized surgery.
