Warning Signs
Every 45 seconds someone suffers a stroke. That’s eighty people every hour.

Yet only 60% of us would recognize a stroke when it happens or realize that a stroke is an emergency. As a leader in the fight against stroke, Mount Carmel wants you to know that a stroke is an emergency, and seconds count.

If you see any of the following symptoms in yourself or someone else, don’t wait. Call 911.
  • Numbness on one side of the body
  • Sudden blurred or decreased vision
  • Trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden, severe headache
  • Loss of balance or coordination
Seeking emergency treatment right away can save brain cells and may drastically improve a stroke victim’s quality of life – and that’s important since that victim could be you or someone you love.
