Mount Carmel Palliative Care
Service is one of six exemplary palliative care programs in the United
States designated as Palliative Care Leadership Centers (PCLCs).
PCLCs provide intensive training and
mentoring to other hospitals that would like to develop their own palliative
care programs or jump-start or expand existing programs.
In addition to the
proprietary PCLC core curriculum, Mount Carmel offers participants access to
three hospital-based palliative care programs, clinical and financial database
training, staffing ideas, billing instruction, quality improvement programs, transition
management between hospital and hospice; hospital and long term care; and
effective interface with Emergency Departments and ICUS. A year of post
training mentoring on palliative care program planning and implementation from Mount Carmel's PCLC faculty is an important aspect of the
program. Mount Carmel has trained over 130 health systems across
the United States.
