Breastfeeding Program

Breastfeeding

Inpatient Consultation

Our board-certified lactation consultants will give you help and guidance on how to get off to a good start after the birth of your baby as well as give you whatever additional support you may need before you leave the hospital.

Outpatient Consultation

While breastfeeding may be natural, it isn't always simple. That's why Mount Carmel offers breastfeeding support after you go home from the hospital, too. If you need a little more hands-on help with latch or are experiencing challenges such as nipple pain or low milk supply, our outpatient lactation consultants will evaluate and individually tailor recommendations to help you overcome them in a very helpful, private consultation. And the nominal cost for these personal services is typically covered by insurance.

Mount Carmel's outpatient breastfeeding services are available at the Breastfeeding Center located at Mount Carmel St. Ann's.

Breastfeeding Services Include:

  • Breastfeeding classes
  • Pre- and Post-feeding weight checks
  • Comfortable latch and positioning
  • Infant feeding concerns
  • Milk supply concerns
  • Nipple or breast pain
  • Return to work planning
  • Breast pumping guidance
  • Breast pump rental
  • Prenatal consults
  • Free support group
  • Free Breastfeeding Helpline, 614-234-MILK
