Mount Carmel Health System Hosting Medication Disposal Day
Start Date

In an effort to help keep prescription drugs off the streets, Mount Carmel Health System is partnering with Cardinal Health, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and local law enforcement to host the Fall 2013 Medication Disposal Day. Community members are invited to bring expired and unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to Mount Carmel East, Mount Carmel West, Mount Carmel St. Ann’s and Mount Carmel New Albany.

Law enforcement officers will be on hand to receive the medication, which will be disposed of in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner. The event is only for medications from personal homes, and used syringes and liquid/liquid gel caps will not be accepted. Additionally, anyone disposing of a mercury thermometer will receive a free, digital thermometer in exchange while supplies last.

Since 2011, Mount Carmel has collected nearly 400 pounds of discarded prescription medication through medication disposal events. For information on exact location on the day of event, please contact Bailey Cultice at 614.581.4934.
