Recently, a young mother brought her three daughters to the Emergency Room at Mount Carmel West. All four had been living in a tent for quite some time, and were having trouble finding resources or a local shelter to take them in. The distressed mom was certain she could no longer care for her children and bravely brought them to the emergency room to surrender them. After the staff notified Columbus Police and Franklin County Children’s Services, the ER team jumped into service immediately and without hesitation, provided care for the three girls and their mom.

While they were receiving care, Sgt. Glenn and Officer Zang of Mount Carmel West security went to the gift shop and bought the girls some toys and personal items. Other colleagues helped by bringing in clothing, coloring books and stickers, snacks, toys and more, and spent time with the kids while they all waited for Children's Services to arrive. Sgt. Glenn was so moved that he and his wife went to Children's Services to see what they could do to help these girls find a home.

Thank you to the team at Mount Carmel West, who helped take care of these young girls and their mother. Because of you, these children who have gone without for so long, enjoyed countless acts of kindness.
