About

Dr. Shubert earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Notre Dame in Philosophy and his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Methodist Hospital and The Ohio State University Hospitals respectively in Columbus, Ohio. During his residency, Dr. Shubert was recognized as an APGO/CREOG scholar as well as for his teaching of medical students. Dr. Shubert stayed at The Ohio State University Hospital to complete his Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship. Dr. Shubert is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Early in his career, Dr. Shubert identified the need for treatment of substance abuse in expecting mothers. As a member of the faculty at the Ohio State University medical school’s Obstetrics and Gynecology department, he founded the Aid to Pregnant Substance Abusers Clinic. He served as the director of the program from 1993 through 1996. He was also a member of the Columbus Department of Health’s Substance Abuse Committee. Dr. Shubert has long provided guidance, multidisciplinary care and support to Mount Carmel patients. He served as director of the Perinatal Care Center at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s from July 1993 through 2019. Since 2007, he has trained the next generation of practitioners as assistant program director for the Ohio State University OB/GYN residency program at Mount Carmel. He has been a clinical assistant professor in Ohio State’s OB/GYN Maternal Fetal Medicine program since 1993. He has served on the Mount Carmel Health System board as well the board of the local chapter of the March of Dimes. He has recently chaired the Prenatal care work team of the Franklin County Infant Mortality Task Force as well serving as co-chair of the Columbus Fetal Medicine Collaborative. Dr. Shubert has won several prestigious awards including the Dr. Tom F. Lewis Spirit of Philanthropy award in 2017.
