The members of Mount Carmel's Internal Medicine Residency Program are a diverse group of physicians, the breadth of which brings to the program a rich and inspiring variety of perspectives on healthcare and medicine.

Benjamin Abraham

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel as I believe this program will prepare me well for my future career in Internal Medicine. I was impressed by how the program is supportive of tailoring my residency track to my clinical interests in Cardiology. The program also emphasizes mentorship and collegiality, which is the type of training environment I best learn in. Columbus is a great place to live, and I plan to explore the various restaurants, parks, arts and music scene throughout my residency.

  • Outside Interests:    In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to competing in the local soccer leagues and going to watch the Columbus Crew.
  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: There were several compelling factors that led me to choose Mount Carmel. Firstly, I was drawn to the program’s reputation for fostering a genuinely friendly and supportive environment. It immediately struck me as a place where I would thrive and find satisfaction in my work. Additionally, the prospect of remaining within driving distance of family and being in the same city as many of my friends was another significant influence.
Neil Glenn, MD

I am truly excited to serve my home city of Columbus and build a strong foundation during my training for my future medical career.

Moreover, the ethos and mission of Mount Carmel resonate deeply with my personal values, particularly its dedication to serving the underserved through initiatives like international missions and street medicine, while also addressing burnout.

I wanted to stay in Columbus with my family, the class size is excellent for learning, the diversity of the program, the positive experiences I have heard from my classmates who rotated at Mount Carmel, and the emphasis on resident wellness.

The mission of the program and hospital system aligned with my goals and values for treating patients and the community. Plus, there is an interest in culinary medicine.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel because it offers a fantastic blend of clinical, social, and cultural experiences—all of which played a meaningful role in my decision. The welcoming environment I encountered during my interviews made a strong impression on me and had drawn me to the program. Being near Columbus is also an incredible bonus which will provide a broad clinical experience and access to a community rich in music and art.

Eyan Nussio

Eyan Nussio, DO

  • Outside Interests: My passion is music, specifically multiple forms of guitar including electric, acoustic, and ukulele. In addition, I enjoy exploring multiple mediums of art including 3D pumpkin carvings and organizing events, as well as improving my skills in baking and cooking. I am constantly finding new ways to explore my culinary skills, usually with a deep fryer.
  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel for several reasons. First, I truly appreciated the friendly atmosphere fostered with peer-to-peer mentorship and the willingness of others to offer help. Second, I felt that my career goals are supported by Mount Carmel’s dedication to placing residents where they want to go. Finally, I rotated quite a bit through Columbus and really loved the area. It was for all these reasons that I felt that Mount Carmel was the best place for me to call home.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: Mount Carmel has the perfect mixture of being a community-based hospital but also having an abundant amount of academic opportunities. Knowing that no matter how I want to build my career, Mount Carmel will support me is massive. Second, Mount Carmel hospitals are positioned perfectly where we can experience all different types of pathologies in both early and advanced stages. Lastly, I grew up in Columbus so I am familiar with the people and area that I will be serving not only in residency but hopefully for the rest of my career.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: During my fourth year rotation with Mount Carmel, I recognized how supportive and encouraging the learning environment was. The attendings, residents and nurses alike were always available to answer questions. They were also attentive to patient care, making patients feel supported and heard as well. Additionally, I am excited to be back home in central Ohio, near family and friends.
