What You Can Do

Never delay care. You will always have in-network access to our emergency department. Regardless of our network status with Cigna, you should always visit the emergency department if you experience a medical emergency.
Apply for continuity of care immediately. Certain patients, including those who are pregnant or undergoing active treatment for a chronic condition, may qualify for extended in-network access through Cigna’s continuity of care program. If you think you may qualify, call the number on the back of your Cigna insurance card or click here to download and complete the form.
If you receive insurance through your employer, ask about alternative health plan options that include Mount Carmel. Your employer may be able to provide you with secondary health plan coverage that includes access to your trusted provider. And, be sure to ask your employer to let Cigna know that it is important to protect your access to Mount Carmel and our providers.
Urge Cigna to put patients first. Call the number on the back of your insurance card and urge them to maintain your in-network access to Mount Carmel so the high-quality care you rely on—whether it's for emergencies or regular treatment and exams—isn't jeopardized because your insurance company chooses to protect its bottom line first.
