SEPTEMBER 2026
Thank you, Tauana, for being a tireless champion for the Mount Carmel Foundation
Mount Carmel President and CEO Tauana McDonald, FACHE, has announced that she will retire at the end of this year, after serving 23 years with Trinity Health, Mount Carmel’s parent company. In every role at Mount Carmel – whether as Chief Administrative Officer, President of Mount Carmel Grove City, or her current position as CEO - Tauana has been a steadfast champion of the Mount Carmel Foundation.
“Serving at Mount Carmel has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” she said. “I have seen firsthand the care and comfort Mount Carmel gives thousands of people on their hardest days. I have never taken for granted the responsibilities of the legacy that the Sisters of the Holy Cross left us. My job was to carry it a little further down the road, and I hope my service honored the strong women who started it.”
“Tauana lives her commitment to our Mission and has modeled that exceptionally well for all of us,” said Foundation President Paul McClelland. “We are so grateful to have her leadership, strength and grace at the top of our organization, and her presence will be felt here for years to come. On behalf of the Foundation, thank you, Tauana, and we wish you all the best in your next adventure.”
Register today for the Dr. O Memorial 5k Walk/Run (Scott – I am hoping you can use something from the pdf in the dropbox to illustrate this story.)
Join us for the 3rd annual Memorial 3.1 mile (5K) run and one-mile walk in honor of the legacy of Dr. John (Jack) O’Handley. Affectionately known as “Dr. O”, Jack was the Medical Director of the Mount Carmel Street Medicine program for 25+ years where he was a beloved physician, teacher, mentor, and friend to all. The Street Medicine program provides no-cost medical care to individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. The medical coach is accessible at eight locations across central Ohio and provides urgent care services for acute illness, infections, wounds and unmanaged chronic disorders.
Register here to participate in this year’s event. Proceeds from the race will support the Street Medicine program.
September is Healthy Aging Month
Healthy Aging Month is an annual observance each September designed to encourage adults of all ages to adopt healthy habits that support long-term well-being. Take stock of your physical, mental, social and financial well-being this month and embrace healthy new habits.
Focusing on these four areas can be key to living well now, as well as in the years ahead:
- Physical activity – supports balance, mobility and heart health
- Healthy diet – helps maintain strength and prevent disease
- Preventive care – requires active participation in personal health care, including recommended screenings
- Mental and social engagement – encourages learning new skills and staying socially connected
If you need more information or are looking for specific advice as it pertains to your unique health, be sure to see your primary care provider regularly. Together you can craft a plan to maintain or improve your health now and in the future.
Learn more about recommended health screenings at any age.
Meet Samantha Glaspie-Pasden, Senior Accountant
“What I enjoy the most about working in Foundation accounting is knowing that the financial work I do directly supports our Mission. Behind every donation, grant and fundraising initiative is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients, families and communities, and I appreciate being part of that process.”
“While much of my work happens behind the scenes, I measure success by the positive impact it has on the Foundation's operations. Accurate reporting, strong stewardship of donor funds, and smooth financial processes enable the Foundation to focus on advancing its Mission and serving our communities.”
