Because You Were Scared

One evening a young baseball player came into the Mount Carmel Grove City Emergency Department after being struck in the head during a little league game. He was scared he was going to need a shot or stitches.
Fortunately, his first contact was with Mount Carmel Security Officer Aaron England, who escorted the boy and his mother back to the ED. Officer England couldn’t assure the boy he wouldn’t need either, but he did assure him that he would get great care.
While they waited, Officer England engaged the boy in a conversation about the Cleveland Indians, who happened to be playing that evening. Officer England also made sure to put the game on the TV in the boy's room to give him something else to focus on.
With the young player occupied, Officer England pulled his parents aside and asked if it was okay if he gave the boy a piece of baseball memorabilia he had in his car. It was foul ball he’d caught at a recent Indians game. With their approval, he presented the ball to their son, who was a fan of the player who’d hit it. The boy held on to the ball like a treasure the rest of his stay, and hopefully held on to the memory of the security officer who made a scary visit to the ED a little more fun.
