New Mom Support
Home Visiting
Home visiting is a voluntary family support program offered throughout Ohio to promote healthy growth and development for babies and young children. Home Visiting is part of the Help Me Grow system of supports for pregnant women and families with young children. Home visitors are well-trained professionals who support families without judgment and empower parents with the skills, tools, and confidence they need to nurture a healthy pregnancy and baby.
At Mount Carmel we have 2 colleagues who can provide home visits to pregnant and parenting moms/families. Home visiting uses evidence-based programs and promising practices that improve the health of mothers, babies, and children.
Home visitors provide caring support and reliable information on topics that matter to you. Whether it’s how to prepare for your delivery, how to soothe a crying newborn, or how to manage sleep (yours included!), your home visitor will listen to your concerns and support you in making the best decisions for you and your baby.

Moms2B
Moms2B is an innovative, community-based pregnancy program for low-income women established by The Ohio State University in 2010. Moms2B provides weekly education and support sessions to promote healthy lifestyle choices and link moms with support services. Our education topics focus on: breastfeeding, child development, family planning, goal setting, labor and delivery, maternal-infant health, positive parenting, reproductive health, safe sleep and more! The goal of Moms2B is for all participants to deliver healthy, full-term infants that live to celebrate their first birthday. Moms2B encourages all pregnant women to participate and invites them to stay in the program during their infant’s first year of life.
Mount Carmel in partnership with Ohio State offers a weekly education session at the Mount Carmel Franklinton Campus.
WHEN: Every Thursday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM WHERE: Medical Building #2, Room 126 777 West State Street, Columbus, OH 43222

Perinatal Loss
Pregnancy loss can be incredibly difficult. Unfortunately, experiencing a loss like this is also very common. Research suggests that as many as 20 percent of confirmed pregnancies end in miscarriage. Many people who suffer a pregnancy loss do go on to have a healthy pregnancy later. But that doesn’t make this sudden and overwhelming moment any less profound.
Thankfully, though, navigating this unexpected time is something you and your family don’t have to do alone.
As a part of our Community Health & Well-being program, Mount Carmel provides informed, compassionate support for women and families who experience pregnancy loss. Whether your loss impacts you physically, emotionally, or both, our team of specially trained nurses is here to help with:
• Comforting, encouraging conversation • Guidance on follow-up medical care • Recovery expectations and education • Referrals • Education and resources.
We may not be able to take away the pain of this moment, but we want to do everything we can to help you move from shock and grief to hope and healing. Please contact us anytime at maternalfamilysupport.com.
