Peer Recovery Support
For patients and community member coming to our Mount Carmel Emergency Departments with an overdose or other addiction and recovery needs, Social Care offer a CHW (Community Health Worker) and a Peer Recovery Supported to provide long-term case management, recovery assistance and support to help them get sober, remain sober or be safe as possible.
Peer recovery supporters are individuals who have overcome mental health or substance abuse experiences and who use their experiences, personal journeys and knowledge as tools to help others.
The Peer Recovery Support Certification program is an initiative of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. For more information, please see their website at http://mha.ohio.gov. If you would like to access this service or to receive additional information, please contact us at socialcarehelp@mchs.com.
