February 24, 2025February 24, 2025
Three hospitals in the Mount Carmel Health System have earned national recognition for its efforts to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registrations through the 2024 DoNation Campaign.
The Campaign challenges organizations to educate their staff, visitors and communities about the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation, including offering opportunities to register as organ donors. Mount Carmel East and Mount Carmel Grove City earned Platinum level recognition and Mount Carmel St. Ann’s earned Gold level recognition for conducting awareness and registry activities between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.
“We believe in the profound impact that organ, eye and tissue donation can have on saving and enhancing lives,” said Patty Bump, Nurse Manager of Surgical Trauma ICU and Intermediate Care Units at Mount Carmel East. “Our participation in the DoNation Campaign and this recognition underscores our committee to donating the ultimate gift – the gift of life.”
The Campaign is a national initiative that unites the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration and the organ donation community with workplaces across the nation in spreading the word about the importance of donation. Mount Carmel Health System worked with Lifeline of Ohio to leverage its outreach efforts.
Every nine minutes, another person is added to the national organ transplant waiting list, reaffirming the critical and growing need for more registered organ, eye and tissue donors.
