Paul McClelland begins today new role as Mount Carmel Foundation President
Columbus, Ohio – Mount Carmel Health System has announced Paul McClelland, MA, CFRE, CFRM as president of the Mount Carmel Foundation. McClelland was selected following a national search. He succeeds Deanna Stewart who announced her retirement late last year.
Paul has more than 25 years of distinguished leadership and philanthropic experience, with a deep passion for advancing health and wellness in our communities. He has successfully led record-breaking capital campaigns and major gift initiatives across healthcare and education sectors.
“Paul’s commitment to mission-driven work and his ability to foster meaningful relationships make him well-suited to lead our foundation forward,” said Tauana McDonald, FACHE, President & CEO, Mount Carmel Health System. “We look forward to the vision, energy and expertise he will bring the foundation.”
As President of the Mount Carmel Foundation, McClelland will oversee all philanthropic efforts, including major gifts and community fundraising campaigns. He will work closely with donors, the foundation team and Mount Carmel leaders to support critical programs, capital projects and patient-centered initiatives.
Most recently, Paul served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Muskingum University, where he oversaw all philanthropic efforts and more than doubled fundraising productivity. Before that, he worked in a variety of roles supporting many great causes, including the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, and Genesis HealthCare System in Zanesville, Ohio.
“I am deeply honored to join this mission-driven organization,” said McClelland. “With a shared commitment to advancing health equity and improving lives, it’s a privilege to contribute to furthering this important work alongside the foundation team.”
Paul received his Bachelor of Arts from Carson-Newman College and holds a Master of Arts from Kent State University. Paul also serves as a board member of the Appalachia Outdoor Adventure Club and the William M. Shinnick Educational Fund. His family includes his wife, Amanda, who serves as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Muskingum Valley Health Centers, and four adult daughters.
